Wilson Vineyard is located on the Northern most part of the very large Sonoma Coast appellation just outside of the town of Annapolis.2019 Capiaux Wilson Pinot Noir

from harsh ocean winds but benefits by its proximity to the ocean and forest that surrounds it. I have been jointly farming this 2.23 acres with the Wilson family for years. The elevation is 778 feet above sea level with a 13% slope. Newer French clone 777 on rootstock 3309 is planted.

Medium to dark reddish-purple color with a semi-opaque center and a strong purple hue. Dark fruits dominated by plum and currant and followed by high energy palate with a great balance of the acid and tannin. Bright Bing cherry, red currant and cranberry flavors round out this aromatic and silky wine.

Reviews:

Vinous/Galloni 94pts
“…one of the most expressive wines in this range. Effusive aromatics give the Wilson so much sheer appeal. Gracious and nuanced in the glass, the Wilson is a wine of total finesse. Silky tannins add to an impression of elegance, with hints of blood orange, purplish berry fruit, spice and mint that linger. There is a feeling of translucence to the 2019 that is so beguiling.” Drinking Window 2022-2031 Tasting Date: Sept 2020

Wine Advocate/Parker 95pts

“…comes from organically grown grapes and was aged 11 months in 40% new French oak. Medium ruby-purple, it has a lovely nose of purple flowers—dried lavender and thyme—with notes of anise, iron and blackberry compote. The palate is silky, juicy and layered with loads of spice and earth accents and has a long finish with classy new oak spices. It’s a fabulous end to this bottling—Sean Capiaux says this will be the last vintage of the Wilson vineyard, as the site is simply too challenging to farm.” Drinking Window 2021-2030 Tasting Date: June 2021
