2018 Capiaux Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands
Garys' Vineyard is a highly acclaimed and storied site owned by two Garys: Pisoni and Francioni. It was planted in the mid '90's to Pisoni clones in Santa Lucia Highlands sandy loam soil. With my first vintage of Garys' in 1999, I could sense its old-world beginnings and knew this vineyard could rival some of the great Burgundy "grand cru" sites.
2018 Garys’ exhibits medium red color in the glass with a bright purple hue. Black fruit with toasty vanilla aromas leads into black cherry, ripe strawberry and plum on the palate. Chewy fruit and candied orange rind sneak in mid palate.
