Capiaux Cellars grape source Pisoni Vineyard in late summer

Wine Advocate/Parker 95pts
"...comes from organically grown grapes and was aged 11 months in 40% new French oak. Medium ruby-purple, it has a lovely nose of purple flowers—dried lavender and thyme—with notes of anise, iron and blackberry compote. The palate is silky, juicy and layered with loads of spice and earth accents and has a long finish with classy new oak spices. It’s a fabulous end to this bottling—Sean Capiaux says this will be the last vintage of the Wilson vineyard, as the site is simply too challenging to farm."

Wine Advocate/Parker 94+pts

"...martini clone vines more than 60 years old and was aged 11 months in 35% new French oak. Medium ruby, it is deeply scented of baked blackberries, rhubarb and cranberry sauce with accents of star anise, dust, blood orange and potpourri. The palate is packed to the gills with spicy fruits, and it finishes long with classy oak spice. It’s a big, bold style with potential to improve in the cellar over the next 3-5 years." “…is a blend of fruit from the Widdoes and Starscape vineyards. It has a medium ruby color and beautiful aromas of blood orange, earth, iron, iodine and kaleidoscope of spices and floral notes. The palate is silky and fresh with layers of citrus, lush fruits and mineral touches. It finishes very long and uplifted.”

Antonio Galloni 92pts
The 2017 Pinot Noir Old Vine (Russian River Valley) is a rich, heady wine. Ripe black cherry, game, inky blue purplish fruit, smoke, incense and licorice give the 2017 much of its distinctive personality. Muscular tannins add to an impression of pure power. This is a decidedly imposing appellation-level wine that needs time in bottle to be at its best. That said, the 2017 is super impressive, especially within its peer group
