Starscape Vineyard’s allure is from old vines planted in 1971 which give it the darkest, deepest coloring which is unusual for this varietal. Forest floor and earthy aromas with a hint of toasted herbs. Dark, pure fruit palate with spice on the finish. Youthful tannins might suggest laying this down for a while.

The 2016 Pinot Noir Starscape Vineyard is another dark, powerful wine. Potent tannins and dark-fleshed fruit give the wine its sepia-toned, brooding personality. The pedigree of these old Martini clone Pinot vines, planted in 1971, comes through in the wine's gravitas and intensity. I can't wait to taste the 2016 with some bottle age, once the tannins soften a bit. Drinking window 2020-2031. Reviewed Apr 2018.
