2015 Capiaux Chimera Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley, Sonoma
Chimera is one of my earliest wines, the name taken from Greek mythology... "a monster comprised of three different animals" as is depicted on the label. Originally blended from three vineyards back in 2001, I now have access to several excellent Russian River vineyard sources that boost its quality.
Aromas of rose petals give way to lush flavors of red cherry, cranberry and raspberry...like a mixed berry compote and a sprinkle of nutmeg. Medium weight tannins offer versatility as a sipping wine or paired with dinner on Thursday night.

"The Capiaux 2015 Pinot Noir Chimera is plump, juicy and expressive, with all the richness and lushness of the vintage. Bright red cherry and pomegranate flavors are propped up by bright veins of salinity and aromatic lift that give the wine its brilliance. The blend of sites, all from Russian River, works beautifully here."

"...this wine has a deep ruby color and a big, sweet kiss of raspberry, black cherry, incense and floral notes. It is medium-bodied, lush, long and again, sexy ad heady, It is one of his biggest cuvees (925 cases). It should be drunk over the next 4-6 years."
