"The 2009 Garys' Vineyard is a textbook example of the wonderful Santa Lucia Highlands. Sweet black currant and black raspberry fruit aromas intermixed with notions of licorice and earth jump from the glass of this full-bodied, voluptuously textured, long, rich Pinot Noir. Already drinking beautifully, it should continue to evolve for 4-5 years. "

"(aged in 40+% new oak, vs. one-third for the other vineyard-designated pinots under the Capiaux label): Good bright, deep red. Sexy aromas of candied berries and plum. An opulent fruit bomb, with lovely depth and sweetness to its cherry and raspberry flavors. Conveys an impression of lower acidity than the Widdoes bottling, but there's no shortage of pinot tang here. Harmonious and aromatic from the outset."
