2016 Capiaux Wilson Pinot Noir

Antonio Galloni 94pts
The 2016 Pinot Noir Wilson Vineyard is a striking, multi-dimensional wine. Dark red and purplish fruit, savory herbs, licorice, and lavender all flesh out beautifully in the glass. This cool, late-ripening site tends to produce savory Pinots. There is plenty of aromatic finesse in the 2016, but also quite a bit of textural richness and depth to play off those elements. Powerful, explosive and full of character, the Wilson is another superb wine from Sean Capiaux. Drinking window 2020-2028. Reviewed Apr 2018

2016 Capiaux Starscape Pinot Noir

Antonio Galloni 93+pts
The 2016 Pinot Noir Starscape Vineyard is another dark, powerful wine. Potent tannins and dark-fleshed fruit give the wine its sepia-toned, brooding personality. The pedigree of these old Martini clone Pinot vines, planted in 1971, comes through in the wine's gravitas and intensity. I can't wait to taste the 2016 with some bottle age, once the tannins soften a bit. Drinking window 2020-2031. Reviewed Apr 2018.

2016 Capiaux Pisoni Pinot Noir

Antonio Galloni 93pts
The 2016 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard is sensual, racy and inviting. Silky tannins and a creamy palate feel yield a Pisoni of unusual finesse, which is quite remarkable for a site that in the past has tended to produce much darker and more potent wines than this. Hints of violet, lavender, spice and a dash of new oak add shades of nuance. Drinking window 2019-2026. Reviewed Apr 2018.
